The first time I put them up, I ended up with some empty spots, which delayed the reveal a couple weeks. Then once I had the additional letters, I did some rearranging to balance the colors and font styles.
Before our dining room walls were nothing exciting, and I had a wrought iron etagere in the far corner.
I've been pondering several wall art projects for a while now. What I almost put on the walls were black and white vacation photos framed in matching black frames with white mats, like I saw in the condo we stayed at in Vancouver last summer.
(Clearly those last three photos were taken before I learned about white balance! Boy does it make a difference!)
I don't even remember what it was that changed my mind from the framed photos to the vintage letters, but I'm glad I decided on something a little unusual. I can always tone things down and do something more conservative later, but I'm enjoying the zaniness of vintage letter R's all over my dining room walls now!
I believe The Mr. and The Teen think I'm nuts. They haven't exactly been shouting their approval. But that's pretty hard to come by, so I try to do what makes me happy!
What was your latest project that was a bit on the zany side?

There have been a number of times that by 11:30 at night I've had all I can take of my living room or bedroom or kitchen and re-painted it.
ReplyWow, impact-a-rama!! They do look really fun and crazy - what a brilliant collection.
ReplyMy other half doesn't always agree with my ideas either but somehow, he always manages to come around to my way of thinking ;) xxx
PS I'm assuming your surname starts with R? Otherwise, it may be crazier than I realise!! ;)
Oops ... I meant to explain that in the post. Yep, our surname (or "last name" for us Yanks) starts with an R!
Looks great! I love the look of this!

Oh my goodness, I would be thrilled to have a display like this in my house! It's so fun! So many colours and fonts! I love typography :)
ReplyWhat a fun way to personalize your space. I see it as a great space to entertain in because there is lots to look at for guests, and everyone can pick their favourite 'R'!
Replyi love how fun and vibrant it is with all those r's. also, i'm obsessed with your front door and wish all that light came into mine!
ReplyI *love* this! So cool!
ReplyThose R's are just too much fun! I love all the different colors. It's a great look for your dining room. I also like your dining chairs. I've been trying to convince my husband that we need to get some of those. They are stackable, right?
ReplyThe chairs are the West Elm Scoop-Back chairs. And, yep, they're stackable!
What's wrong with a roomful of Rs? Go for it, Hollie!
ReplyI really like this! It's so much FUN!
