Metamorphosis Monday #2

I received some positive feedback about last week’s inaugural Metamorphosis Monday, so I’m back this week with round two.

First up are two before & after shots from the bungalow Dorie and her husband brought back to its charming 1916 splendor after it had been ravaged by a late ‘80s or early ‘90s (I’m guessing) “remodel” by the former owners.

You’ve got to go check out the rest of their house.  You can find Dorie’s own post here, and the feature post I came across at Hooked on Houses.  Dorie and her husband have a sophisticated cottage style, which is so appropriate for the period of their house.  I am smitten.

Next we have a very different project.  I was wowed by the bright red color on this pair of nightstands by Mr. and Mrs. Frugal Face.  Their shape reminds me of the turquoise nightstand I recently refurbished.

This woman is serious when she says she’s on a budget.  Miss B.e.e. of B.E. Interiors created her own green glass subway tile look on her kitchen backsplash area with paint and a gloss sealant, which cost her only $25.

This stenciled record cabinet by The Creative Collage is really cute.  I love the DIY honeycomb pattern, along with the simple white/turquoise color scheme.

Amanda at Every Creative Endeavor created a bowl out of rope after being inspired by one from West Elm that she saw on The Nate Berkus Show.  Her tutorial sounds easy-peasy, and this project is now on my to-do list.

Lemonade, anyone?  Staci of Just Sew Sassy turned an unloved desk into a snazzy stand for her young entrepreneurs.

Here’s another creative repurposing project.  Vintage silver-plated casserole trays were transformed into into spice racks at the home of Nita at Mod Vintage Life.  I have no idea how people think of these things!

This next project is right up my alley.  Jean from Flower Hill Design Company found a side table for cheap, painted the base, and had a remnant piece of Carrara marble cut as a new top.

We have Carrara on our kitchen counters, and I am a huge fan of its timeless appeal.  I spotted a cabinet at a yard sale recently but it didn’t have a top and this would have been a great solution.  I’ll keep that in mind next time!

Hope you enjoyed today’s Metamorphosis Monday.  We’ll be off on vacation next week, so I’ll be back with more transformations the following week.  Until then, go find something old and tired, and wake it up with a transformation!

I love these! I can't believe how much of a chance Dorie's house has gone through! I'm totally envious!

I love the idea of the silver-plated casserole dishes as spice racks. I'm sure there are some in our basement if you are interested!!!
