Get Me Motivated Monday

Fall is definitely here in Southern Indiana!  When it's cool outside, all I want to do is curl up on the sofa under a blanket, with my laptop, a snuggly kitty, and my TV remote.  This week I have a deadline looming overhead (which I'll tell you more about later this week), so I guess I better get off the couch and get something done.  Here are the projects that are helping motivate me this week!

1.  Cassie at Hi Sugarplum! shared her finished bookcase re-do.  She took a pair of very generic wood tone bookcases, added trim, painted them, lined the backs with fabric and trim, then added carefully edited items back on to style them.  I think her styling is just right, and I like the way the red and white fabric plays off her blue sofa.

2.  Mike at Blue Velvet Chair attached hundreds of rolled-up magazine pages to a mirror to create a recycled magazine frame.  It's just part of an in-process living room remodel.

3.  Steph at BirdHouse added another stunning piece to her craft room -- a DIY painted rug in a large graphic pattern.

4.  Susan at Homeroad gave an old brown tray new life with some chalk paint and a fleur-de-lis design.  This project popped out at me because of my recent coffee table makeover!

5.  A few weeks back I featured a brightly painted baby gate.  This week I came across a turquoise-painted high chair at A Tree Lined Street.  Another example that mundane, and necessary, kid furniture does not have to be boring and ugly!

6.  When I set out to paint a vintage oak bed for our college-age cousin Molly, I was hoping she'd go for a really bold color.  Instead, she played it safe and went with white to keep things neutral, so I'll live vicariously through this red bed painted by Melanie at Oops! Redone.  What lovely detailed posts it has, too!  I'd love to see it all made up with bedding and pillows.

7.  I've seen this marbelized paper used in frames as wall art, but this is the first time I've seen it decoupaged to a piece of furniture.  Neat-o.  The creative Amy at The Salvage Collection fancied up a standard 3-legged table with the swirly paper and some gray paint, and gave it a new life!
